ABOUT US

THE GENESIS

Keltom Roots was formed in 2019 by Brycen Hill, after a couple years of farming vineyards in West Sonoma County.  The Keltom Roots name comes from a portmanteau of Brycen's parents' names, Kelly and Tom, in appreciation for all they've done.  After marrying Lauren Kelly in 2022, Keltom Roots became a family-run label.

Each of the wines are single-vineyard expressions from family-owned farms in Sonoma County. The portfolio focuses on Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and Syrah.

THE FAMILY

Born and raised in Fauquier County, Virginia, Brycen began his career in wine & viticulture in the Middleburg, Shenandoah Valley, and Monticello AVA's of Virginia, as well as the Corbieres AOC of France.  He earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and a Master of Science degree in Plant Science (Viticulture), before moving out west.  Brycen moved to Sonoma County in 2017 immediately after completing his graduate work to begin working as a Viticulturist. Brycen is currently Director of Vineyards for Paul Hobbs Wines.

He met Lauren Kelly in 2018 and the two were married by 2022.  Lauren is also an accomplished florist and the couple grow flowers at their home west of Sebastopol (Let'er Bloom Flower Farm).

THE PHILOSOPHY

Keltom Roots' philosophy is concentrated on vineyard sourcing from family-owned farms that go beyond the basics of "sustainable farming".  Our belief is that farming should harmonize with surrounding ecology and enhance the biological community that it shares.

Our winemaking techniques ensure that each wine is a true reflection of the vineyard site.  For us, that means avoiding additives like commercial yeasts, acids, enzymes, etc.

Our labels are inspired by our family's love of all things nature. Each Label features a unique illustration of plants, animals, or fungi.
